In the proposed work we will simulate protostellar core formation in turbulent environments while including non-ideal processes in AMR-MHD simulations. Currently, AMR applications face difficulties in including non-ideal processes because the resulting implicit solvers do not scale well. We have developed novel SuperTimestepping algorithms that implement non-ideal terms as an explicit process, thereby eliminating the need for implicit solvers. We will be using an AMR-MHD capability that is specially designed to maximally exploit Cray’s Coarray Fortran (CAF) compiler. CAF is built on top of the best non-blocking SHMEM routines from Cray and so it is expected to produce extreme scalability on Blue Waters.
