In this research, we will conduct an integrated computational effort to demonstrate the capabilities of multi- layer 2D material membranes with nanopores to sequence DNA via chemically-modified bases. The sensing technique will be achieved by calculating the variation of the electronic currents along each electrically active individual 2D membrane caused by the modified nucleotides during their translocation through each nanopore. The combination of multilayer membranes for noise protection from the electrolytic ion stochasticity and for reducing electro-chemical leakage from the membrane, with the use of comprehensive computational software involving statistical signal processing will provide the necessary ingredients for accurate base identification. To successfully carry out the intended goals of this project, we estimate our usage to be around 239,810 SUs.
