The first stars in the Universe were formed from primordial, metal-free gas. Their end products shaped the formation of subsequent generations of stars and galaxies, and understanding the properties of their accretion disks will inform our understanding of the initial mass function and thus their potential observable consequences. Utilizing the GAMER-2 simulation platform (developed on Blue Waters and optimized for execution on GPUs), we will conduct high-resolution simulations of global, 3D accretion disks around these first luminous objects and in doing so expand our understanding of the processes that lead to their formation.
