Great Lakes Ecosystem management requires knowledge of vegetation type, size, structure, and density over time. Decades ago, this type of information was captured with aerial film photography. Today, digital stereo sub-meter optical satellites (DigitalGlobe) are used to measure the size, structure, and density of vegetation across forest and wetland ecosystems.
