In this project, a number of undergraduate students will work as a team to investigate inheritance features in protein structures using Deep Learning and other machine learning methods. The science premise of this project is that Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models can uncover and recognize hierarchical features that are associate with protein functions. This research will be able to answer fundamental questions on our body’s biomedical activities and provide inputs to precision medicine. As a small regional college, the support from Blue Waters project is crucial for faculty and student research at Hood College.
