The Einstein Toolkit is a publicly available frame- work used by several numerical relativity groups in the world, with appli- cations ranging from high-energy astrophysics to cosmology. It was used to verify the gravitational wave signal detected by the LIGO gravitational wave observatory in September 2015. There are currently 126 registered users from 75 different groups around the world (http://einsteintoolkit. org/members.html).  Simulating these compact object merger events requires significant com- putational resources and as such users of the Einstein Toolkit have been using Blue Waters computing resources from the very beginning.

NCSAs Relativity Group is hosting the 2017 Einstein Toolkit School and Workshop on July 31st – August 4th. The school website is currently available at http://www.ncsa.illinois.edu/Conferences/ETK17/.

A highlight of this school meeting is the use of Blue Waters to simulate a low resolution compact object merger or similar event using the Einstein Toolkit. Each user will also use Blue Waters to run exercises and as a development platform during the school lectures. We will set up jupyter notebooks and the required software stacks for students to use jupyter as a shell for their development activities. We expect that were will be approximately 40 students and postdocs participating in this three day event.
