Samantha FoleyI am hosting one student who will be developing a computational fluid dynamics curriculum module for teaching modeling and parallel computing concepts to students ranging from high school students to undergraduates in computer science and other disciplines. These modules contain education guides about the content, source code, and scripts that allow the module to interface with the OnRamp to Parallel and Distributed Computing web portal. OnRamp is designed to abstract away the details of launching parallel codes on parallel systems so students focus on the computational and parallel concepts. This internship will allow the student to develop HPC skills, learn about computational fluid dynamics methods, and gain further experience using Blue Waters and other HPC systems. This work will also allow us to expand our portfolio of OnRamp curriculum modules and to use them in K-12, undergraduate CS courses, and even other undergraduate teaching and research settings.
