Quantum Effects of Proton Transfer in Biological Systems

James Mazzuca, Alma College

Usage Details

James Mazzuca, Chase Schultz

Alma College is hosting one student in a one-year internship in which a highly parallel implementation of chemical physics algorithms will be written, benchmarked, and applied to real chemical problems in which the quantum motion of light nuclei influence the rate constants of proton transfer reactions in biological systems. The student will gain experience in writing highly parallel Fortran code, determining which parts of a complicated scientific code can scale in a massively parallel environment, and the student will gain an understanding of the chemical physics which govern the rate constants of these reactions.
