The current usage of the Blue Waters compute nodes is presented below in a table on the left, as a sum of both XE and XK nodes in the first pie chart, and by individual node types below. The state of the computes nodes can be one of: "In Use" - nodes allocated to jobs; "Idle" - nodes not allocated or reserved to a job; "Draining" - nodes reserved for a job but could be used by a backfilled job; and "Down" - nodes not available for running jobs.

The following data shows jobs of varying sizes that could currently be backfilled. Submitting jobs of these sizes does not guarantee a job being run, but there is a pretty good chance. For more information on backfill, please see the backfill documentation.

Subsystem Throughput in Average Gbit/s over 2 minute intervalsBlue Waters transfer network traffic through Import/Export, High Performance Storage Systems (HPSS), and Login nodes through a core Ethernet switch. This comprises all of the data and communication into and out of the system in addition to data that is transferred between these nodes through normal system operation. The following chart shows, from the perspective of the Ethernet switch, either received (Rx) Gigabits per second or transmitted (Tx) Gigabits per second. This is a summation of all node Ethernet traffic.
Throughput Totals (last 24 Hrs) Rx - 110 TB, Tx - 3.12 TB
Uplink Throughput in Average Gbit/s over 2 minute intervalsTraffic sourced from or destined to Blue Waters traverses the uplink to the NCSA backbone network. From there, the traffic can reach other NCSA resources or external resources. The following chart shows, from the perspective of the Ethernet switch, either received (Rx) Gigabits per second or transmitted (Tx) Gigabits per second out of the blue waters system.

WAN Average Utilization over 2 minute intervalsTraffic leaving NCSA traverses the four 100Gbps and 10Gbps peerings to the Research and Education (R&E) networks providing diverse network paths to the many users of Blue Waters. The following chart shows, from the perspective of the NCSA east and west exit routers, either received (Rx) utilization or transmitted (Tx) utilization at NCSA.

Blue Waters is the source and destination of large data sets. As part of our regular management of the network supporting Blue Waters, we monitor that data over the network. This is the list of the top 10 data moving autonomous systems, or remote networks, in the previous day. The network names and total bytes transferred in the previous day is listed below.
